Fifteen members of the Whitefield Boy Scout Troop 554 attended a Smyrna City Council meeting on Monday, March 17. The students led the chambers in the Pledge of Allegiance and introduced themselves to members of the Council. Councilman Ron Fennel presented Senior Parent Leader Issac Graves with an American flag to be retired.
The students attended the meeting to learn about citizenship while working on a erit badge. There was lively debate on a couple of issues including one regarding the use of siding on some proposed homes and another regarding a ban on smoking in city parks. The boys also listened to department reports by Fire Chief Paige Day and Pollce Chief David Lee.
