The varsity volleyball team faced The Walker School and North Cobb Christian School in a recent home game. Although the Pack fell to Walker, the team beat North Cobb.
The Pack started the first set with a four-point lead off three aces by Anna Moore (12th). Whitefield led by as many as eight points, but the Lady Eagles clawed their way back to tie the set at 23-23. Whitefield fought off three set points, but North Cobb took the first set in overtime, 26-28.
In the second set, the Pack built a solid lead at 16-11. Anna Long (11th) came on to serve and tallied eight straight points to take a commanding 24-11 lead. The Pack easily won the second set, 25-13.
In a tense third and deciding set, the teams swapped points to a 10-10 tie. Anna Moore came to the service line and reeled off six points including three aces to build a 16-10 lead. North Cobb came back to tie the match at 17-17, but Whitefield pulled away to win set three and the match for a huge win in the region.
Anna Moore had an All-Star night with six aces, four digs, and 15 assists. Gracie Babcock (12th), Kate MacPhail (10th), and Sunni Dupree (9th) also had an ace. At the net, Gracie and Sunni led with six kills each, followed by Audrey Garrett (10th) and Anna Long with five kills. Kelsey added two kills. On defense, Audrey had a block at the net. On the back line, Morgan Landers (12th) had nine digs. Sunni had seven digs, Kelsey had six digs, Anna Moore had four, and Anna Long had two.
