Thirty Whitefield Academy third, fourth, and fifth-grade students were selected to be featured as a gospel choir for a Christian worship video recorded on Friday, April 15 in Stone Mountain, GA. The students recorded the video at the Atlanta-based production company Dunlop Productions for a brand new VBS curriculum program by Cokesbury Music Publishing Company of Nashville, TN.
“Having the Whitefield Academy students on our set was an over-the-top experience for our production company,” said Daniel Dunlop, owner of Dunlop Productions. “From the moment the students walked in and took the stage they were as professional as one could possibly ever want.”
The experience was not only fun, but educational, giving students a glimpse into the world of video production. Vocals for the VBS video were recorded in Nashville, but Whitefield students were needed to provide the imaging for the song Amen. Students used a practice video to rehearse the words and motions of the choir, then filmed the video, lip-syncing the words.
“Our choreographer, Kim Mann, who has worked with children’s choirs all over the world, was impressed with their musical knowledge and performance, along with their positive ‘can do’ attitude,” said Dunlop. “As the producer, I got to watch the eyes of my clients’ light up as they watched the students perform and bring their video to life.”
The video which will be available to churches across the United States in 2017 will be played during worship with scrolling lyrics to teach VBS attendees worship songs and reinforce the truth of God’s Word in a way that excites children.
