The class of 2016 experienced Senior Celebration on Wednesday, May 4 at the Riverside Epicenter. Sponsored by the Whitefield Alumni Association, seniors arrived at 1 p.m. and enjoyed a break from exams and studying. Electronic games, pool, and other games were an energizing way to start the fun. Seniors moved into the buffet line of barbeque and all the fixings and had the opportunity to share conversation with the Whitefield Alumni Board. Sarah MacPhail (’07), Lane Nichols (’07), Emily (Deeter) Haisten (’05), Jarvis Bronner (’04), and Carter Fawcett (’06) all engaged in celebrating this class and encouraging them in their new endeavors.

As everyone enjoyed their lunch, MacPhail, incoming Alumni Board president welcomed the class to official alumni status, invited them to return to Whitefield and be part of the growing Alumni Association. Fawcett offered a blessing over the class. Gifts of portable chargers and journals were presented to the class. The journals were a compilation of notes of encouragement from faculty and staff as well as quotes from all the alumni who attended the 2015 Alumni Christmas party.

The highlight, of course, was the drawing for three gift certificates for cash, of which alumni are always in need! Winning were Charlene Gachoya, John Schwartz, and Kalen Tavassoli.

The afternoon progressed to the bowling lanes where avid competition was carried out, as were great antics of skill and performance.  The rock-climbing wall beckoned and was successful in totally draining any energy left in the brave ones who made it to the top.

The Whitefield Alumni Association hosts the Senior Celebration event every year to encourage active involvement in the association... Alumni bumper stickers are given out and contact information is gathered for staying in touch through the years.   Whitefield hopes to see the entire class of 2016 at homecoming which is scheduled for September 30. Go Pack!
