In a game that meant nothing to Whitefield for final rankings going into the post-season, the rival North Atlanta Warriors almost caught the WolfPack in a trap game. North Atlanta hosted the game on their newly-rebuilt turf on a windy but sunny late Saturday morning. The Warriors surprised the WolfPack quickly to take a 1-0 lead. The teams traded goals throughout the first and second periods, but the WolfPack could not find a lead or an answer to the Warrior attack.

Whitefield trailed at the half, 8-6, and while North Atlanta led on the scoreboard and in time of possession, the WolfPack did not seem to be out of the game. The coaches moved the boys to a zone defense, which proved to be the answer the WolfPack needed to shut down the Warrior’s goal production. Whitefield moved the game to a 9-9 tie at the end of the third period and had energy and momentum going into the final period. Whitefield took their first lead of the game, 10-9, on a man-down goal by Mitchell Ryan (11th), which proved to be the winning margin when the final horn sounded.

The offense was led again by Jonathan Wood (11th) on two goals and three assists. Mitchell added four goals; Carter Dixon nailed two goals and one assist, and William Charles (12th) added two goals.

Wills McCutcheon (10th) had his second highest save count of the season at 13.  The rest of defense held off the Warriors on five ground balls (GB) and one caused turnover (CT) by Thomas Joiner (10th); five GB netted by Connor Callan (11th); three GB and one CT by Joseph Schwartz (10th); three GB snagged by Carter; two GB and one CT by Mitchell; two GB by Brenner McCutcheon (11th); one GB and one CT grabbed by Jack Fitzgerald (11th); one CT by Jonathan; and one GB by William.

The varsity lacrosse team  (13-1) starts post-season play at home this coming Friday versus the Creekview Grizzlies at 5:30 p.m. Come out and support your WolfPack team as they start this next phase of their exciting season. Go Pack!
