Whitefield faced the Mt. Zion Eagles on Monday, March 21, and won 13-6. Casey Bowman (10th) was the winning pitcher with four innings pitched, giving up only three earned runs and striking out four. Casey’s four innings were exactly what the Pack needed to save pitching after playing two games in one night. Luke Persons (10th) made his second appearance on the mound and closed out the last three innings. Luke retired the first eight batters he faced, striking out five, and only facing 10 total batters. The 13 runs came on 14 hits: John Schwartz (2-5, two RBI, sophomore Carter Huffman (2-4, double), Will Brogan (2-4, double, RBI), junior Mason Jones (2-4, two RBI), Jimmy McCarthy (2-2, double), and junior Griffin Combs (2-2, two RBI) had two hits each to lead the attack.
The varsity team plays next on Thursday at North Cobb Christian at 5 p.m. The junior varsity team plays at home Wednesday, March 16, against St. Francis at 5 p.m. Come out and support Whitefield baseball.
