The Whitefield varsity baseball team won handily over the Excel Christian Eagles, beating the Eagles 10-1 on Monday, March 14, at home. The WolfPack offense and defense worked together and cruised to victory. Luke Persons (10th) led the defense with his best outing of the year, pitching six innings, striking out eight, and allowing only one earned run. Will Brogan (12th) pitched the seventh inning to close out the game. Griffin Combs (11th) at third base and Mason Jones (11th) at catcher were standouts on defense.
The bats were timely with the Pack scoring 10 runs on 10 hits. The top six in the batting order did the damage against the Eagles. John Schwartz (12th) had two hits (stand up triple) and one RBI; Jacob Pitts (10th) had one hit and one RBI; and Carter Huffman (10th) had two hits with one RBI. Luke Miltner (12th) made two hits (double) with two RBIs; Will Brogan (12th) had two hits (double) and three RBIs; and Jimmy McCarthy (11th) was another standout at the plate.
