Arts and The Individual
by Gabby Boswell (12th)
Art is an illuminating sea of infinite beauty. My favorite part about art is how each individual perceives beauty differently. Nobody sees the world exactly the same way, but art allows us insight into the way that others think and absorb life. It is a humbling experience to realize that we do not all think the same way; that we all may look up at the same stars yet see such different things. That is why art is alluring. It is intriguing how a single concept can be endlessly manipulated and transformed into something different based entirely on the artist’s perception. No one is required to think, see, or interpret the same way.
Thankfully, I have been blessed with an art teacher who understands this. Instead
of forcing her students’ work in one direction or another, Mrs. Brown helps each us of grow individually as artists and allows us all to develop our own personal aesthetic. Because of this freedom and guidance that she has given me over the years, I have been able to express myself through my work and truly develop a passion for art. I am extremely grateful for Mrs. Brown, not only as an art teacher, but also for the loving and relatable person that she is and the influence that she has had on me throughout my four years of high school.
Art And Who You Are
by Alden Evans (8th)
Art can show who you really are. My art does that, and it tells others who I am as a person, what my beliefs are, and even my personality. It is unique- I like that. I create things that make me happy, and show my uniqueness. I like taking risks and stepping out of the box. Your art doesn’t need to be exact, and I have realized that with my own art. I love my art because it describes me, and no one else.
