Rebecca Brown, Upper School art teacher, has been selected by the City of Smyrna as an exhibit artist for the 2nd Annual Taylor-Brawner Park with Art event. The exhibit and show will feature the work of 23 of the region’s most talented painters, weavers, crystal sculptors, wood turners and carvers, and all the pieces on display will be one-of-a-kind originals.
The Taylor-Brawner House is a circa 1890 Victorian home located in Smyrna. The Taylor family introduced the jonquil flower to the region, leading to Smyrna's nickname as "The Jonquil City." The 2009 restoration was the result of a five-year fundraising effort by the Taylor-Brawner House Foundation.
Other award winning artists on display include Claire Colquitt Curtis, Marsha Savage, Barbara Kincaid,
Sarah Monsour, Thom Lillie, Karen Margulis, Wanda Crane, Ronnie Offen, Richard Herklotz, B.J. Hatcher, Kristina Havand, and Sue Dean.
"I'm very excited!" said Brown.
