Congratulations to sophomores Ansley Guthrie and Samara Huggins who were both selected to participate in the exclusive Pratt Institute Summer Pre-College Program. The program is an intensive art immersion experience which offers college level courses including Foundations in Art, Art History, Portfolio Development, and an elective. Elective choices include architecture, creative writing, fashion design, fine arts, graphic design, sculpture/3D processes, traditional/digital illustration, and photography. Students also attend lectures as well as cultural and social events.
“I found out about this program through researching various precollege programs,” said Ansley. “I was drawn to the rigor of the Pratt program and loved the idea of immersing myself in the art culture of the city,”
“I am choosing between the digital illustration program and the regular illustration program,” she added.
“Fashion design is my obsession and my passion,” said Samara. “This is so exciting! I will spend an entire month both doing what I love and learning techniques and information that will help me to succeed in the future.”
An added bonus is the friendship that already exists between the two girls.
“We were hopeful that we would each get in,” said Samara. “This is a dream come true!”
The program is located at Pratt’s Brooklyn campus in New York City, one of the world’s multicultural epicenters for arts, culture, design, and business.
