After almost a month off due to weather and spring break, the JV baseball team returned to action Wednesday afternoon at St. Francis and won 8-3 to move to 2-0 on the season. The game had five lead changes and was tied going into the final inning where the Pack scored five runs to break the game open.
Jake Gilbert (11th) started the game on the mound and pitched four strong innings, with three strikeouts and giving up only four hits. Casey Bowman (9th) pitched the last three innings giving up only one hit. Both pitchers gave up only one earned run combined.
The defense played well again, matching the first game with two double plays started by Griffin Combs (10th) and Will Brogan (11th) on fly outs. Offensively the Pack had ten hits led by Griffin and Jake with two hits each. McCarthy (10th) got the Pack on the board in the first inning with a nice line drive hit to center. Going into the seventh, Jake got the scoring started on a single to left and two runs scored after a fielding error by the Knight leftfielder. Later in the seventh Coleman Miller (9th) had a bases-loaded single scoring two runs, and Jake Lewis (9th) also doubled in the seventh.
