The WolfPack varsity lacrosse team resumed their winning ways last night by triumphing over region opponent, the Yellow Jackets of Sprayberry, 11-6. In front of a vocal home crowd, Whitefield prevailed handily - striking first and never trailing the Jackets. The Jackets lived up to their aggressive reputation, but the younger Pack was not intimidated. Sprayberry scored in fast break and transition situations, but Whitefield dominated every other phase of the game.
Leading the WolfPack attack with three goals each were David Ballew (12th) and William Charles (11th). Also contributing one goal each were Marcus Jones (12th), Carter Dixon (10th), Jonathan Wood (10th), Mitchell Ryan (10th), and Jack Charles (9th). Carter also led all assists with two.
The defensive keystone was Wills McCutcheon (9th), who snagged a great 57% of shots on goal, and
fortified with aggressive ground ball play led by Sky Dupree (12th) with five, Carter, Marcus, and Joseph Schwartz (9th) who grabbed three each, and Jonathan scooping up two.
Varsity lacrosse (2-3, 2-1) returns home this Friday to battle the River Ridge Knights. Game time is 5:30 p.m. Come cheer on the Pack and see why lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in America!
