The Whitefield varsity baseball team opened their region schedule on Monday with a solid win over Mt. Pisgah, 6-3. The Pack managed 12 hits off of several Patriot pitchers, scoring one run in each of the first, second, fourth, and sixth innings, and two in the seventh to seal the win. The scoring started early with back-to-back doubles by Ryan Wesley (12th) and Sam Fuller (10th) in the top of the first inning.
John Schwartz (11th) led the way offensively going three for five with three singles and an RBI. Luke Miltner (11th) and Ryan added two hits each and RBIs were added by Matt Olson (12th) and Sam.
Bailey Combs (12th) had a strong performance on the mound earning the win and pitching a complete game allowing only six hits and three earned runs, while striking out seven.
The WolfPack moves to 2-0 on the season and face Kings Ridge today at 4 p.m. in their first home game. Go Pack!
