Third grade students exchanged their daily dress of the Whitefield uniform to don the attire of famous North American explorers such as Cortez, Ponce de Leon, Magellan, Cartier, Champlain and others. Each student gave a presentation about a different explorer, explaining their significance and work to classmates.
"The students' presentations were all unique," said Beverly Smyly, third grade teacher. "Some used a project board to illustrate facts about their explorer, others created a scrapbook or wrote a song about their explorer and some even became the explorer and recited a monologue. Great fun and learning was had by all!"
The class learned about a multitude of explorers with presentations lasting two days.
