On Monday night the varsity boys traveled to Kennesaw State University to play Calvary Day in the semifinals of the GHSA state tournament. The boys started the game with an 8-2 run and ended the first quarter up 18-11. By halftime the WolfPack was on top, 40-24. Despite getting into foul trouble during the second half of the game, the team never gave up their lead on Calvary. In the end Whitefield won the game 82-61.
Courtney Alexander (11th) and Brendon Myles (10th) led the WolfPack in scoring with 14 points apiece, followed by Norman Harris (11th) with 13, Isaiah Hart (9th) with 11, and Eric Lockett (12th) with 10. Leading the team in rebounds was Courtney with 13, followed by Lawrence Waters (12th) with 10, and Norman with four. Senior Berto Dryden led the team in assists with five, followed by Eric and Courtney with three each.
Great win boys!!! The WolfPack now travels to Macon to play for the state championship on Saturday, March 8, at 12:45 p.m. against St. Francis. Hope to see everyone come out to support the WolfPack.
