Lower School students closed out Black History Month on February 28 with a chapel service dedicated to the contribution of African American educators. Several Whitefield students led portions of the chapel, including Johnny Megathlin, Malia McKinley, Chloe Troutman, Brenden Vanderpool, Arianne Bazemore, and Sebastian Morgan.
Groups of students lined up to share the contributions of individual African American educators, and
the kindergarten class recited a tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
The chapel was also filled with inspiring musical selections. The Lower School Chorale sang “Oh, Won't You Sit Down,” Whitefield parent Princess Elmore sang, “A Change is Gonna Come,” and Club Cub Director
Sherry Fair, also sang. The Lower School Chorale also sang, “Lift Every Voice and Sing.” before Lower School Principal Jeannie Brostrand closed the service in prayer.
