On Tuesday night, February 25, the varsity boys basketball team played host to Darlington in the first round of the GHSA state playoffs. The game started out slow for the WolfPack with the team down 2-10 at one point during the first quarter. With seven minutes left in the second wuarter and the team down 9-15 the momentum changed and the boys took control of the game. The team led by 11 with four minutes left in the second quarter. By halftime the WolfPack led 40-33.
Throughout the game Darlington benefited from the 28 fouls that were called on the WolfPack. In the end Darlington had trouble hitting all their free throws and the WolfPack was able to gain the lead, finally winning 83-61.
Leading the WolfPack in scoring was junior Norman Harris with 15 points, while Berto Dryden (12th) and Brendon Myles (10th) both scored 13 points. Isaiah Hart (9th) scored 11 points. Courtney Alexander (11th) led the team in rebounds with nine, while Brendon had seven, and both Norman and Eric Lockett (12th) had five. Isaiah led the team in assists with nine followed by Norman with three. Leading the team in steals was Isaiah with four, and Berto with three.
Great win boys! The WolfPack next plays on Thursday in the second round of the state playoffs.
