The varsity tennis teams tallied victories against North Cobb Christian, Mount Pisgah, and Pace Academy last week.

The girls team won 5-0 and the boys prevailed 3-2 against North Cobb Christian. Players chalking up another singles win were sophomore Rachel Hicks (6-1,6-0), junior Annie Sickling (6-1,6-0), and junior Kerry Anna Lemasters (6-1, 6-1). Doubles teams who were once again victorious were senior Caroline Holliday/sophomore Megan Schwarzkopf (6-3,6-2) and seniors Colleen Cosey/Caroline Langella (6-0,6-0).

On the boys' side, winners were David Lemasters (11th) at singles and the doubles teams of senior Harris Reed/sophomore Justin Samples (6-2,6-2) and senior James Schultz/junior Stephen Bracher (6-0,6-1). Juniors Matthew Landry and Bennett Shilling fought tough matches in the first two singles slots.

Both the girls and boys teams edged out highly ranked Mt. Pisgah Christian despite cold weather, each winning 3-2 victories.

Winners for the girls were sophomore Rachel Hicks (6-3, 6-3), junior Kerry Anne Lemasters (6-3, 6-2) and the doubles team of junior Caroline Holliday and sophomore Megan Schwarzkopf (8-3). Junior Annie Sickling and the doubles team of seniors Caroline Langella and Colleen Cosey fought hard against some tough opponents.

Mount Pisgah wins by the boys were highlighted by a split set victory by junior Matthew Landry (6-7, 6-2, 10-5), a dominant victory by sophomore Justin Samples (6-0, 6-1), with the doubles team of juniors Bennett Shilling and Stephen Bracher clinching the team victory (8-1.) Junior David Lemasters lost a heartbreaker, forcing his opponent to two tiebreaker sets, and sophomores Jay DeShong and Holden Hosch fought hard in their match hampered by dwindling daylight.

The teams face rival Pace Academy on Friday, March 21. Although the boys team lost at home, the girls team conquered the Knights at their home courts 4-1. Deciding to play 8-game prosets because of threatening skies, singles winners were sophomore Rachel Hicks (8-3) and junior Annie Sickling (8-0). Junior Kerry Anna Lemasters faced a tough opponent at #2 singles, forcing long points the entire set. The doubles winners were the teams of junior Caroline Holliday and sophomore Megan Schwarzkopf (8-5) with the team of junior Cassie Clementi and freshman Megan Smith closing out the victory (8-6).

The teams face a full schedule this week, playing Fellowship, Walker, and Wesleyan in back-to-back matches today, Tuesday, and Wednesday. Come support the Pack!
