Whitefield's Lower School students have actively explored the scientific world recently through in-school workshops and field trips.
High Touch High Tech's Professor Q visited the third grade, tranforming the classroom into a living laboratory.
"We became real scientists and learned by doing the actual experiments," said third grade teacher Beverly Smyly. "The program 'Newton in a Nutshell, exposed the classes to motion, force, action and reactions. The children’s favorite experiment was the shooting of rockets with water and air pressure from a bicycle pump."
Fifth graders journeyed to the Atlanta Botanical Gardens to learn about “Plants Around the World.” They learned about epiphytes, insect-eating plants, and even water lilies the size of a small boulder.
The goal of Whitefield's Lower School science curriculum is to expose students to the amazing world of science by providing a fun and innovative learning environment.
