Middle School Cross-Country Team Places Second At InvitationalMiddle School Cross-Country Team Places Second At Invitational

Whitefield Academy hosted nearly 200 runners in a Middle School cross-country invitational last week. The Middle School boys team placed second overall. It was a great afternoon for the two-mile run and the times showed the team’s hard work, with nearly all runners having a personal record for the meet.

The girls race was led by Marie Schmitz (7th) at the one-mile mark. She finished sixth overall with a time of 14:47. ChaCha Hamilton (6th) finished strong with a time of 18:07.

The boys team scored 58 points. The effort was led by Jimmy McCarthy (8th) with a fifth-place finish with a time of 13:23. Also adding significant points were Sam Fuller (8th) with a ninth-place finish (13:31), Jack Fitzgerald (8th) with an 11th-place finish (13:34), Sid Brendel (8th) with a 12th-place finish, and Hunter Bilotti (7th) with a 21st-place finish (14:21). Rounding out the eight-minute mile or less pace was Joshua Orr (7th) at 14:44, Colson Gulledge (6th) at 15:17, Rubin Thomas (8th) at 15:32, Crawford Folk (6th) at 15:55, and Sean Morris (6th) at 16:02. In addition, there were strong performances by Luke Petersen (6th), Jackson Williams (7th), Patrick Spellissy (7th), Caleb Corliss (6th), Matthew Cofield (7th), Jordan Howard (6th), Jake Rivers (6th), Alex Eaton (6th), and Alex McKoy (6th).

Middle School cross-country coach Ann Schmitz and community coach Kevin Miller will add the second place trophy to the Middle School trophy case!
