Last week, the WolfPack continued their quest for GHSA state and Metro10 tournament championships.
The boys varsity soccer and lacrosse teams won the first round of their tournaments, with soccer defeating Mt. Zion 11 - 1, and lacrosse winning over Fellowship 11-9. The boys varsity soccer team will compete in the second round of the state tournament at home on Wednesday, May 3, at 6 p.m. You can find the bracket for this tournament here.
On Friday, varsity lacrosse competed for the Gannon Cup against Wesleyan and came out of the gate ready to play, but there was not enough gas in the tank that night as they fell just short in the end, with a final score of 11-12.
Varsity baseball started their state tournament competitions on Friday, playing two games in a best-of-three format against North Cobb Christian. Whitefield split the Friday double header and forced a game three on Saturday, but fell 9-1 to a tough Eagles teams. The baseball team had a great season this year and will look to build on that solid success for next year.
Many of the Middle School’s Metro10 tournament brackets also started last week.
Whitefield golfers took fourth place in their competition, while the girls soccer, boys soccer, and baseball teams defeated their first-round opponents. The Middle School baseball team competed in the semifinal round on Wednesday, where they finished their season in a hard-fought game against Mt. Paran. Our Middle School lacrosse team battled all the way to the Metro10 championship on Saturday, but lost a tough game to Pinecrest to take second place.
Both our Middle School boys and girls soccer teams will host the championship match this week on Tuesday at home. The boys play Walker at 4 p.m., and the girls take on Pinecrest at 5:30 p.m. Come cheer both of these incredible teams on to victory as they look to stake claim to the first ever Metro10 soccer champions title.

On Thursday morning, we’ll celebrate 14 seniors who will be competing in athletics at the collegiate level. This group makes up 21 percent of the Class of 2017! We are so proud of the accomplishments of these student-athletes during their time at Whitefield and are looking forward to cheering them on in their future endeavors. *Tyler Fay scored the first two goals, with Henry Hamilton showing exceptional defense and working the LSM position very well
*All the players really pulled together as a team, showing support and desire to finish strong
Middle School Baseball

*Despite an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, Walker was no match for our Middle School WolfPack

Area meet at Darlington
*13 Whitefield track and field athletes qualified in 12 events for the state meet at Berry College in Rome, Georgia on May 11-13
*The girls 4x100 relay team of Logan VanArsdale, Kaitlyn Johnson, Shelby Wingate, and Amelia Little qualified for state with a season best time of 49.9 seconds
*Also qualifying in individual events were Shelby Wingate in the 100m and Emily Little in the 1600m and 3200m
*Carson Brown qualified for state with a personal and season best throw of 147'9" in the discus and 48'0" in the shot put in the area meet, and Nicholas Harris qualified in the triple jump with a season best jump of 41'2''
*The boys 4x100m relay team of Nicholas Harris, Willie Fulks, Julian Munoz, and Brian Pickens qualified for state in a school record time of 43.75!
*Also qualifying in individual events were Willie Fulks in the 100m, Brian Pickens in the 400m, Zachary Justice and Caleb Corliss in the 1600m, and Zachary Justice and Devin Wade in the 3200m

Metro10 Tournament: Boys scored 133, Girls scored 161
*Boys finished 4th out of 10 schools with a 133
*Low scorer for boys was Joshua Patrick with a 42

*Mary Chris Cella was the low scorer for the girls with a 46 and was 4 strokes from getting an individual medal
