Whitefield Academy has a long-standing partnership with Amor y Ezperanza school in Quito, Ecuador. Students from Whitefield take an annual mission trip to the school to teach the students English and share the Gospel.

The owners of the school, Pancho and Pity Zola, have a high-school son named Danny who runs cross country. The Whitefield cross-country team found out that Danny would love to attend the Smoky Mountain Running Camp with the team in July,  but did not have the funds to travel to America.

The team banded together to raise support for Danny to attend the running camp by setting up a GoFundMe page and sharing Danny's story with friends and family members. Within a little over a week, they had raised enough money to cover Danny's travel expenses, camp registration fee, and a little bit of spending money.

"Thank you so very much for making my dream come true!" said Danny. "I may know only few of you, but for most of you, I am a stranger, and in spite of this, you helped me! What an awesome love, a love that brings so much hope to my life. Thank you so much for blessing me, this is more than I ever imagined for my life. I really hope to have the blessing and honor of meeting you. God used you all to make the impossible possible! May the Lord bless you richly."
