This week was eventful for the WolfPack as the final Metro 10 and state playoff brackets started to take shape!

Congratulations to our varsity boys soccer team, who claimed the school’s first-ever boys soccer region championship last week after defeating Walker 3-0! This was an incredibly exciting moment for everyone involved, and we are so proud of the hard work and dedication that the players and coaches have put in to get to this point. You can read more about the team’s season and region win here. We’ll continue to cheer for the Pack as they head into the state tournament this week. As the number one seed, they have earned the right to host the first round of the state playoffs this Wednesday at 6 p.m. at WolfPack Stadium.

Last week, varsity girls tennis claimed a win in the first round of the region tournament, securing a coveted spot in the state tournament. The team entered the state tournament ranked fourth out of 11 in our region. They drew a very tough opponent in the first round, competing against Wesleyan on Friday. Coach Tillman Hamilton led the Pack as they took on the Wesleyan Wolves, a team for which she served as varsity assistant coach just last year. The girls lost a tough battle in the end on Friday but deserve much praise for an incredible season. They have a bright future ahead with a young team that will have the opportunity to build on this year’s success. Read more about the tennis team’s recent victories here.

The varsity track team brought home medals last week after dominating the area meet at Darlington on Thursday. Boys claimed first place, and girls claimed third, with four Whitefield runners qualifying for state. The team will compete at sectionals this Saturday and state on May 11–13. Read more about their recent results here.

Our varsity baseball and lacrosse teams both captured huge wins on Friday evening to secure spots in the state playoffs as well.  Baseball took both games of a double header against Trion, and the lacrosse team had a great 13-3 win over Pace, stealing the last playoff spot from the Knights on their turf. Lacrosse will begin to defend its claim on the Gannon Cup this Tuesday at home against Fellowship, and baseball will begin its run at the state title this Friday. Stay tuned for updates and scores throughout the week.

In an already action-packed week, we also had the opportunity to celebrate Senior Night for our spring athletes on Tuesday, where we congratulated 30 seniors on their hard work and dedication throughout their time with the WolfPack. Seniors, thank you for the example and foundation you have laid for the future success of this school and these programs!

In addition to these great moments, we’ve continued to cheer on Middle School teams as they compete in Metro10 tournaments. Last week, the Middle School track team claimed second place at their Metro10 meet, and this week, we’ll back the Pack as golf, baseball, soccer, and lacrosse teams compete in their tournaments.

You can find more details from last week’s games below, and check out the athletics schedule for upcoming events here. We’re so grateful for the support and encouragement that the Whitefield community has shown to each of our athletes and coaches this season! I look forward to cheering them on with you this week as they compete and play for His glory and His fame.

Thank you for how you cheer loud and proud for your WolfPack!
