The WolfPack varsity baseball and lacrosse teams both captured huge wins on Friday, April 21, to secure spots in the state playoffs.
Baseball took both games of a double header against Trion, with home runs in the final game by Carter Huffman (2-4, 2 runs, 4 RBIs), Sam Fuller (1-3 with 2 runs and 2 RBIs), and Jimmy McCarthy (2-4 with 1 run and 2 RBIs). Griffin Combs and Jacob Pitts pitched. The team heads into the playoffs with a 14-8 record.
The lacrosse team had a great 13-3 win over Pace, stealing the last playoff spot from the Knights on their turf. Jonathan Wood scored four goals, with two assists and one ground ball. Joseph Schwartz had seven ground balls and three caused turnovers. Wills McCutcheon had 12 saves in goal.
Lacrosse will begin to defend its claim on the Gannon Cup this Tuesday at 5:55 p.m. at home against Fellowship, and baseball will begin its run at the state title this Friday. Stay tuned for updates and scores throughout the week.
