On Wednesday, April 6, the Middle School boys soccer team played their best game of the season in a thrilling come-from-behind win against out of league opponent Woodward Academy. After falling behind 0-1 in the first half, the WolfPack was facing a potential 0-2 deficit after conceding a penalty shot 10 minutes into the second half. Instead, goalie Walker Smith (8th) made the save of his life not only on the penalty kick but also on the rebound. But the play didn’t stop there. The ball was cleared to Joe Ostholhoff (8th) who found himself now one-on-one with Woodward’s keeper. Joe was just able to get a foot on the ball as he was taken down by the Woodward defender and goalie, giving just enough space to send the ball across the line for a WolfPack goal! Instead of being down 0-2, the game was tied 1-1, all in a matter of 15 thrilling seconds. After the dramatic turn of events, our boys rode a wave of momentum to a second goal as Jason Dinschel (8th) finished Joel McKinney’s (7th) precision corner kick. Now up 2-1, the Pack held on for 15 minutes against a no-holds-barred Woodward attack to seal the victory. What a game!
