Our sixth-graders kicked off the new school year by focusing on "others ahead of self" through community service. They packed toiletry kits for 7 Bridges to Recovery, a non-profit organization that reaches out to the lost and broken of Atlanta by feeding and meeting their physical needs with the goal of sharing Christ and eventually getting the homeless off the streets.
Each Middle School student in sixth through eighth grades must complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service per school year. By chosing to start the school year with this project, they not only worked toward achieving their required community service hours, but also intentionally gave up one of their last days of summer to help others in need.
Afterward, the class continued their bonding experience by completing obstacle courses and having a popsicle party.
