Congratulations to Emily Sumlin, who was spotlighted by the Marietta Daily Journal as a Super Senior. Sumlin was recognized as part of the MDJ’s series on outstanding seniors across Cobb County. The article, which was entitled Beautiful Balance, highlighted Sumlin’s commitment to academics and theater arts, but also shared how she manages to balance a busy lifestyle while investing in others through community service.
“From books to theater to music, Sumlin, 18, enjoys learning different vantage points to help unlock people,” said the article. “She said music shows her different perspectives, and her love for traveling and community service allows her to interact with others.”
Sumlin is heavily involved in the Whitefield Dramatic Arts Society, and a regular volunteer with the Metro Atlanta Project, a two-week-long community service project to help impoverished people in Atlanta. Each year, Sumlin supervises younger students who work on home repair projects.
Sumlin graduated this past Saturday, May 14, and will be studying psychology at University of Virginia in the fall. Click here to read MDJ’s full article.
