Congratulations to alumnus John Alar (’12) who received the John M. Planchon Sr. Award for Excellence in Commerce from Rhodes College in Memphis, TN. A senior at Rhodes, Alar received the award at a convocation hosted by Rhodes Academic Affairs on April 29. John graduates this May with an interdisciplinary major in business and economics and a minor in computer science. While at Rhodes, he had a successful career on the mens track and field team, winning second place in the high jump at the 2015 conference meet and earning a spot on the All-SAA (Southern Athletic Association) second team. After graduation, John will be working as an investment banking analyst in Charlotte, N.C.
