On Thursday, April 10, Whitefield Academy held a senior scholars luncheon, honoring 14 seniors who have earned the magna cum laude and summa cum laude distinction.
To earn the magna cum laude distinction, students must earn a 3.70-4.0 cumulative grade point average during their four years of Upper School; take a minimum of six honors and/or AP courses; take four years of a foreign language (or three years of a foreign language if seven honors
and/or AP courses have been taken) and have no failing grades throughout their Upper School career. Will Brogan, Kristen Corliss, William Easterwood, Kerry Martin, Felton Smith, and Sydney Wingate earned the magna cum laude distinction.
The summa cum laude distinction is awarded to students who have achieved a 3.95 or greater cumulative grade point average during their Upper School career, and have completed all the rigorous coursework listed above. Megan Rose Byers, Jake Gilbert, Holden Hosch, Luke Miltner, Logan Pearce, Will Schultz, John Schwartz, and Emily Sumlin have earned the summa cum laude distinction.
After recognizing these students at the scholar luncheon, Upper School principal Nathan Stevens announced the 2016 valedictorian, Logan Pearce, and the 2016 salutatorian Jake Gilbert. Congratulations Logan, Jake, and all our senior scholars for your outstanding achievement.
