Whitefield’s Middle School boys soccer team played another game and showed another display of a complete team win on every side of the ball, shutting out Mt Vernon, 9-0. Suring the game, keeper Walker Smith only needed to make one save, which was off of a free kick. The WolfPack moved the ball at will, starting with a stout attack from the back lead by defender Micah Messner. The WolfPack coaches give a big shout out to the man of the match Joel McKinney who had three assists to go with two goals.
Congratulations to Joe Ostolhoff for the first two goals of his Whitefield career, the first was scored with an acrobatic bicycle kick and the second was scored an athletic ninja volley.
James Heiskell also scored his first Whitefield goal from the wingback position. Luke Wilson added an assist and his first two goals of the season - the first was a wonder strike from 30 yards out. Devonte Watson and John Johnson rounded out the scoring.
The Middle School girls team had a tough match-up against Mt. Vernon, but tied the game in the end. The girls fought hard in the first half, and only allowed one goal to be scored against them. They came out ready to fight the second half, and in the last few minutes of the game, Sophia Megathlin (7th) was able to connect with the ball and score for the WolfPack. The defense, led by Caroline Browne (8th), Mady Kendrick (8th), and Sophia Trovato (8th) kept the game tied, with some additional great moves by goalie Adiyah Thomas (7th).
