Sixteen members of the Whitefield WolfPack Marching Band traveled to Chastain Park in Buckhead this past weekend and marched in their brand new WolfPack uniforms in celebration of Opening Day for baseball and softball at the Northside Youth Organization (NYO) fields. They led a parade of all the younger baseball and softball teams, playing Take Me out to the Ball Game for hundreds of onlookers along the route. The group also played the National Anthem during the ceremony.
“The weather held up and it was a great day for all the festivities,” said Stacy Quiros, marching band director. “We enjoy participating in this event every year and I’m always proud of the students!"
Senior Natalia Pitter, drum major, led the group with a Whitefield flag; senior Brendan Myles wore the
Wolfie costume and hugged, carried around, and posed with dozens of young ball players. The band has been participating in NYO Opening Day for a number of years.
"The Whitefield band in front of our parade always grabs everyone's attention," said Meredith Houseman, parade coordinator. "Everyone on the planning committee agrees that NYO Opening Day would not be the same without the Whitefield WolfPack Marching Band. We are blessed to have Whitefield lead our parade each year at NYO! We are always impressed and very thankful for Stacy Quiros and this group of talented students!"
The band included: Janae Montgomery and Lydia Chaffer (flutes); Pierce Rogers and Danny Megathlin (saxophone); Malik Jones and Donovan Pearce (trumpet); Jack Krahel and Collin Richardson (sousaphones); and Ryan Castle, Joshua Orr, Trae Terrell, and Julian Munoz (drums). Special thanks to Nikki Moses senior Adonis Cole who photographed the event!
