Congratulations to the Middle School and Upper School students listed below whose artwork and writing have been selected as award winners in the 2016 Scholastic Art and Writing Competition for Georgia. Their work was chosen from over 3,000 entries submitted from both public and private schools throughout the state
The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards were established in 1923 to recognize the vision, ingenuity, and talent of our nation’s youth, and provide opportunities for creative teens to be celebrated. Each year, increasing numbers of teens participate in the program, and become part of a community of talented young artists, filmmakers, photographers, poets, sculptors, and writers. Countless educators support and encourage them in the creative process.
Earning a Scholastic Award has been a strong predictor of future success in the arts. The awards have an amazing track record for identifying the early promise of our nation’s most accomplished and prolific creative leaders with alumni including artist Andy Warhol, writers Truman Capote and Maya Goldberg, and actor Robert Redford. Outside the arts, awards alumni employ their creativity to become successful as leaders in fields including journalism, medicine, finance, government, public service, law, science, and design.
