Lower School students entertained a delighted audience of parents, grandparents, and friends at the Lower School Variety Show held on Friday, October 16. Fifty-one students participated in the show, with 40 acts that spanned the gamut of talent. Students sang, danced, played instruments, and even hula-hooped (and double hula-hooped) while dancing

Humor was also the theme of the night with stand-up comedians and skits (written by the students) that earned both chuckles and guffaws. There were monologues and magic tricks while cameras clicked away and members of the audience leaned over to one another to proclaim, “That’s my son…or that’s my granddaughter!”

The show was hosted by fourth-graders Anna-Kate Holton, Archer McBride, Kathryn Moorer, and  Logan Robinson. Each host introduced their portion of the show with flare, helping the night to flow seamlessly from act to act.

“To me, the best thing about the Lower School Variety Show is that it is 100% student-created. They invent and rehearse entirely on their own without adult guidance and the result is an exciting evening featuring a wide cross-section of talent,” said Steve Henson, Lower School music and computer teacher. “It’s amazing what first through fourth-grade students can do!”
