Whitefield Academy hosted the third annual Middle School Time Trial Invitational Meet this past weekend. Weather conditions were perfect for running and visiting teams once again were highly complementary of the meet, which is becoming one of the most popular middle school events, and a great way to show off our school and community.
The WolfPack fielded a team of 19 runners including ten fifth and sixth-grade students which bodes well for our future. The biggest excitement of the day was when WolfPack newbie Emily Little (8th) broke the course record for girls by 10 seconds with a time of 9:44! Eighth-grade boys Seir Teasley and Komichel “KJ” Johnson had the next best WolfPack times, coming in at 10:32 and 10:44. Up and coming fifth grader Henry Hicks came in with the third best boys' time behind Seir and KJ with a time of 11:03.
The first Middle School cross-country competition was on September 5 at the AT&T Starrs Mill
Panther meet in Fayetteville. Emily Little earned eighth place with a time of 11:53 for the 3k race. KJ led the boys again with a time of 12:04. Veteran team member Everett Sinclair (8th) shaved three minutes off his time from last year due to his persistence and training over the summer. The momentum is building and we look forward to more success as the season progresses.
