The varsity baseball team returned to action Wednesday after a week off, winning big against Mount Pisgah, 10-0. The Pack bats came alive in the fourth inning after a sluggish start, winning again by “run-rule” in just six innings on a walk off single by Bailey Combs (12th).
Ryan Wesley (12th) got the scoring started with a clutch two RBI double in the bottom of the fourth inning. Next an RBI ground out by Bailey and an RBI sacrifice fly ball by Nile Ball (12th) plated one more run each for the Pack to take a 4-0 lead. Six more runs were scored in the sixth inning, culminating with Bailey’s walk off, bases-loaded single, plating two runs to end the game.
Matt Olson (12th) was two-for-four with a double and two RBIs; Ryan was one-for-three with a double and two RBIs; Bailey was one-for-four with three RBIs; John Schwartz (11th) was one- for-three at the plate; and Bradley Davidson (12th) added an RBI when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Nile was one-for-two with an RBI.
Bailey got the win on the mound, going five strong innings, allowing only two base hits and striking out five. Nile closed in the sixth with a strikeout.
The Pack moves to 13-3 on the season and 7-2 in region play, maintaining sole possession of second place out of 12 teams in Region 6. The Pack is off until next Monday when they play St. Francis at home at 5 p.m. in another big region contest. Go Pack!!
