Whitefield musicians gave back to the local community this past weekend; the jazz band performed at the Unity concert, and members of the marching band participated in the Northside Youth Organization’s opening day of the league’s spring season.
The Unity concert, was a fundraising event for the How BIG is Your Dream foundation, and featured art and fashion displays, a banquet, and performances by Peabo Bryson, Bob Baldwin, and Jorel “JFly” Flynn, who founded the organization. The foundation is devoted to promoting
, educating, and developing youth to excel in music through programs and scholarships for youth interested in pursuing music as a career. The jazz band played during the gala’s preview hour, while guests made their way into the event.
Members of the Whitefield marching band participated in NYO’s opening day parade, an annual event inwhich teams celebrate the baseball and softball season. Children at the event loved interacting with the WolfPack mascot, Wolfie, during the day. Over 1000 young athletes attend the event, along with 300+ volunteers.
