In the spirit of the Christmas season, Whitefield student groups joined together to serve the community through several recent service projects:

Cub Scout Pack 554 participated in a service project to serve at 7 Bridges to Recovery Ministry. The boys and their families donated coats, gloves, mittens, and toiletries and participated in making over 700 lunch bags in one hour. 7 Bridges to Recovery ministers to people who live under the bridges of Atlanta, in an area called the Bluff (Atlanta’s largest crack cocaine and prostitution district). The ministry reaches out to the lost and broken of Atlanta and beyond, with a goal to feed them and meet their physical needs, then reach them with the good news of Christ. The lunches and winter apparel will be distributed to the homeless in these areas.

The sixth-grade Relay Exchange girls also volunteered with 7 Bridges. The girls helped all the children living at The Garden, the ministry’s residential center, which houses  105 women and children.  They spent time with the children and helped them make Christmas cards and handprints for their moms.

First-graders visited Delmar Gardens, an assisted living facility in Smyrna, GA, to entertain residents with Christmas music. The students created handmade Christmas cards and enjoyed chatting with the residents.

Whitefield Upper School and Middle School students donated and collected winter clothing for those in need as the colder weather sets in.  Seniors Robby Keough, Ian Nash, William Bell, and Merritt Enright teamed up with the Agape Way Ministry to distribute the clothing to needy individuals in Atlanta.  Every Sunday morning, Agape Way provides breakfast to residents of the Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway area.  The Whitefield students distributed large numbers of winter coats, hats, gloves, scarves as well as toiletry bags.
