On Friday night the Whitefield varsity boys basketball team played against Arlington High School at the Memphis vs. Atlanta Roundball Classic. Hosted by Whitefield, the Roundball Classic matched nine Atlanta teams against five Memphis-area teams for two days of intense competition. The WolfPack played two games, against Arlington High School and Germantown High School, beating Arlington and falling to Germantown.
The WolfPack was the visiting team in the game against Arlington. The boys kept the game close through the first quarter, only trailing Arlington 15-16 at the end. However, Arlington started to pull away in the second quarter and by halftime the Pack was down 27-35. The second half started out well for the WolfPack; the team went on a 15-6 run to take the lead 42-41. The WolfPack never gave up and though the game remained fiercely competitive, the WolfPack prevailed, winning 79-76.
Leading the team in scoring was senior Norman Harris with 22 points, followed by junior Brendon Myles with 19 points and sophomore Isaiah Hart with 16 points. Senior Courtney Alexander led the team in rebounds with eight followed by sophomore Jimmy McCarthy with six and Norman with five. Courtney also led in assists with six while Isaiah had four.
