Members of the Whitefield jazz band recently entertained guests at the eighth annual Give Me Five benefit banquet held at the Cherokee Town and Country Club in Buckhead.
The banquet supported the Share Our Strength and No Kid Hungry campaigns which are both dedicated to feeding children in need. Share Our Strength is a Washington-based nonprofit organization which is working to end hunger through nutritional programs and No Kid Hungry works to connect children to private citizens, government institutions, and business leaders with innovative solutions to the hunger problem.
The band played an hour and a half of Big Band tunes such as Chattanooga Choo Choo, Take the “A” Train, Fly Me to the Moon and Skyfall to a delighted audience.
“Whitefield has been recognized by venues across Atlanta as a talented and mature group of students
who provide quality entertainment,” said Stacy Quiros, Whitefield fine arts director. “We love spending time out in the community and it was especially nice to support such a worthy cause.”
Whitefield students who participated in the program were seniors Bryce Belyeu, Matt Snyder and Brandon Morris; junior Felton Smith and sophomores Ethan Powell, Anna Kate Peterson and Kaitlyn Johnson.
