Varsity Track Season Opens With A Win

The boys and girls varsity track teams made a strong showing in their first meet of the season just before spring break at Galloway. The boys won the meet with 77 points. The girls finished third with 73 points.

Robby Keough (10th) led the charge for the boys with first place finishes in the 1600m (4:30) and the 800m (a new personal record of 2:02.32). The boys 4x400 relay team of Robby, Holt Merkle (12th), J.B. Johnson (11th), and Adonis Akin-Cole (9th) also scored a first place in 3:39.45.

Other points scorers for the Pack were Holt, who was 2nd in the 800m and 4th in the 1600m in a new PR of 4:54; J.B. Johnson who was 2nd in the 400m and 5th in the 200m; Brandon Morris (10th) who was 3rd in the 100m; Evan Johnson (9th) who was 4th in the 200m and 7th in the 100m; Kerry Martin (9th) who was 4th in the 3200m and 8th in the 1600m; and Adonis who was 6th in 800m.

For the girls, Alice Fugate (11th) took first in the 200m in 27.70. Alice also finished second in the 100m in 13.20. The girls dominated the 100m, with Alice taking first, senior Jordan Jones (13.52) in second, and senior Alexis Allen in third (13.90). The 4x100 team of Alexis Allen, Corey Johnson (9th), Morgan Landers (12th), and Alice also took first place.

Other points scorers for the girls were newcomer Merritt Enright (10th) who was 3rd in the 400m and 7th in the 800m; Corey Johnson 4th in the 200m; Alexis who was 5th in the 200m, Alli McLemore (12th) who was 3rd in the 800m; Katie Kassis (11th) who was 6th in the 3200 and 7th in the 1600; Mikaela McAlpine (9th) who was 8th in the 100m hurdles; and Whitney Merkle (10th) who was 8th in the 1600m.
