Several Whitefield athletes recently received top recognition for excellence in their respective sports this past season.
Jordan Jones (11th) was selected to both the All-State and All-Region softball teams, making her one of only three players from the region to receive this honor. An outfielder, Jordan hit .468 this season, had 19 stolen bases, 19 RBIs, and 39 hits. Her teammates, Shelby Davidson (12th) and Hannah Perkins (12th) were both selected to the All-Region softball team.
Cameron Thornton (12th) was named to the 2011 Marietta Daily Journal Cobb County All-County Boys Cross Country Team. Cameron placed first at the state meet with a time of 15.58.68; he placed second at the Region 9A meet with a time of 16:35.58. Cameron was also named to the Atlanta Track Club All-Metro Team.
