The campus is full of life this summer with numerous ongoing camps, campus maintenance, and a host of other activities. A main focus of the summer, of course, is making certain that Whitefield is fully staffed and ready for the first day of school in August. The administration has been interviewing a number of professionals to fill vacant positions. We are very excited about our newly hired faculty and staff and are anxious to have them here on campus. Here’s an introduction to just a few of them, with more on the way!

Angel Fisher

Angel Fisher will be joining the Lower School faculty as a first grade teacher with 22 years of classroom experience. Fisher has a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in educational management. Fisher worked at The Heiskell School before coming to Whitefield and is excited about the opportunity to be an integral part of the Whitefield community.

“Whitefield has earned a prominent reputation for achieving academic excellence in the Atlanta area, and it is an honor to join and serve a school that maintains high educational standards that allow its students opportunities for academic, spiritual and personal growth,” said Fisher.

Carol Albright, who will be working as a second grade teacher, began her education career as a

Peace Corp volunteer in the Solomon Islands. During her time in the Peace Corp, Albright wrote two booklets on child development in the local language which were used to train local teachers. She has a bachelor’s degree from Colorado State University and a Master of Science in Reading and Literacy. Before joining Whitefield, Albright worked at First Presbyterian Day School in Macon and was the 2012 recipient of the William Bragg Teacher of the Year award.

.”I am excited to be at a Christian school that strives for academic excellence and one that encourages students to put others first and serve Christ.  When I am allowed to truly teach a challenging academic curriculum with sound Christian principles, I am able to fulfill God’s calling in my life.  I can serve wholeheartedly in this environment because I believe in it.  I have a passion for learning and teaching, especially in a Christ-centered environment, and I am thrilled to be at Whitefield!” said Albright.

Megan Beard

Megan Beard, a Class of 2000 graduate of Whitefield Academy, will be teaching third grade. Her daughter, the first legacy child of Whitefield will also be attending Whitefield. Beard has been working as a teacher in Florida for the past nine years. She felt called to work with children while serving on mission trips in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

My experience at Whitefield began my sophomore year of high school in 1997 (which also happened to be the very first year Whitefield Academy opened).  I remember walking up to school on the first day with my new classmates knowing that God had something very special planned for this school.  As a graduate, the positive impact my teachers and coaches had on me created a burning desire for me to one day become an educator and pass along that same love of learning on to my future students

Joining Whitefield as a kindergarten teacher is Mary Charles Kaish. Kaish graduated from Auburn

Mary Charles Kaish

University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. She will also complete a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education with Reading Endorsement from Kennesaw State University this August. Kaish most recently worked at Mount Bethel United Methodist as a PreK-4 teacher.

“The feeling I had the first time I visited Whitefield’s campus was unique.  The love of Christ shines through all those whom I met. I was also instantly able to see the passion for teaching children that exists at Whitefield, along with the commitment to serving the Lord. I knew right away that this is a place I want to be a part of!” said Kaish.

Paige Getchel

Paige Getchell has been hired as a Marketing Assistant, working on the marketing team along with Heidi Wright and Jennifer Bailey to tell the stories of Whitefield Academy. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing this past May from Cedarville University in Michigan. While in college, she interned for Calvary Christian Academy, producing videos, brochures, and other marketing pieces for the Christian school.

“I attended a Christian school from kindergarten through high school, and then also chose to attend a Christian college. Whitefield embodies everything I love about Christian education: the family-like community, a desire to truly know and love each student, and, most importantly, the understanding that all education must be based in the truth that God provides and that the purpose of gaining an education is to bring more glory to Him,” said Getchell.
