The varsity girls tennis team advanced to the semi-finals of the state tournament with a 3-2 win over Pace Academy on Friday night. The highlight of the match was when junior Rachel Hicks retaliated an earlier loss to the same opponent, beating her 6-3, 6-4. The doubles team of senior Caroline Holliday and junior Megan Schwarzkopf added another victory 6-0, 6-2. When the match was tied 2-2, senior Annie Sickling completed her 6-0, 6-1 win to clinch the team victory. The girls will face Darlington in the semi-finals today at 4 p.m. at home.
