Varsity Tennis Team Scores Big Wins Against Walker
The girls remain undefeated with a 4-1 win over Walker yesterday. All three singles players won handily with junior Rachel Hicks winning 6-1, 6-0, senior Kerry Anna Lemasters prevailing 6-4, 6-1 and Annie Sickling closing out the win 6-1, 6-1. The doubles team of senior Caroline Holliday and junior Megan Schwarzkopf endured an almost three-hour match, finally winning in a third set 6-4, 3-6, 6-1.
The boys team was also successful with victories achieved by junior Justin Samples 6-1,6-2, and freshman Ruben Thomas, playing in his first singles match, winning 6-2,6-1. The doubles team of seniors Matthew Landry and David Lemasters won the third point for a team victory with a score of 6-1,6-2.
Baseball Team Defeats St. Francis For 10th Win
The varsity baseball team won a decisive victory over St. Francis yesterday, 11-3. and once again was alive with great pitching. Matt Olson (11th) collected the win going six innings allowing only four hits, no earned runs, and four strikeouts. Nile Ball (11th) closed the game pitching a two hit, two run seventh inning.
Offensively the WolfPack was led by Bailey Combs (11th), who was three- for-three from the plate with three singles, an RBI, and scored five runs. Bradley Davidson (11th) added three RBIs with a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly ball. Jimmy McCarthy (9th) singled to add two more RBIs. Griffin Combs (9th) got an RBI on a hard hit line drive to left field while pinch hitting in the seventh inning. Ryan Wesley (11th) was two-for-four and scored two runs, and John Schwartz (10th) and Sam Fuller (9th) each added an RBI. The WolfPack move to 10-7 on the season and face North Cobb Christian away today at 5 p.m. Go Pack!
Middle School Gold Ends Regular Season With A Big Win
The Middle School Gold baseball team defeated Torah Day school 10-5 Thursday afternoon. Whitefield had 12 hits on 10 runs. Leading the way with two hits each were Danny Megathlin (6th), Parker McKinney (7th), Jake Lewis (8th) and Jared Jones (8th). Luke Petersen (7th), Conner Miller (8th), Louis Brogan (6th) and Zach Lundy (8th) all had a big hit each. The Pack had a strong fielding day, with big plays made by Jared and Malcolm. The WolfPack pitchers, led by Danny Megathlin with three strikeouts and Parker McKinney with a season high seven strikeouts, kept Torah off the bases. Strong play behind the plate by Luke kept runners off the bases all game. Great way to end the season and get ready for playoffs.
