The Whitefield jazz band entertained hundreds at the Celebrity Luncheon and Silent Auction, a fundraiser for the Georgia Symphony Orchestra. Held on March 22 at the Marietta Country Club, the luncheon boasted a myriad of Atlanta celebrities as guests. The keynote speaker was William Fred Scott, former director of the Atlanta Opera.
Also present at the event were Katie Beasley, FOX 5 Transportation Reporter; Susan Burns, official artist of the 2014 Kentucky Derby; Derek Shiller, Executive VP of Sales and Marketing for the Atlanta Braves; Lauretta Hannon,
syndicated advice columnist; and many more.
“Everyone loved hearing the jazz band. Guests were impressed with the Whitefield students and remarked on their talent as well as their demeanor,” said Stacy Quiros, Whitefield fine arts director.
The band played tunes such as Chattanooga Choo Choo, Woodchopper’s Ball, and Take the “A” Train. Guests strolled through the silent auction and danced to the music.
