On a gorgeous night for football, the varsity football team made another long road trip to Locust Grove, Georgia, to take on the Patriots of Strong Rock Christian. It was a total team effort and Whitefield walked away with a hard-fought 27-10 victory.
Following a long clock-consuming drive, Thomas East scored for Whitefield first with a 33-yard field goal. After holding the Patriots on defense, Whitefield drove back down the field and Khalen Pinkett scored a touchdown on a 21-yard run. Strong Rock battled back and scored a touchdown to close the gap, 10-7. The Pack came right back and Thomas East finished the first half by kicking a second 33-yard field goal. The third quarter was used totally by Strong Rock on a 10-plus minute drive that ended in a field goal and brought the score to 13-10, in favor of Whitefield. The fourth quarter belonged to the offensive line, the running backs, and the defense as the WolfPack broke it open to seal the victory 27-10.
Key leaders in the game were: Max Kemether (6 for 13 for 63 yards), Khalen Pinkett (5 carries for 50 yards and 2 touchdowns), and Richard Sherrell (16 carries for 117 yards and 1 touchdown). Key receivers were: Jay Fields (3 catches for 35 yards) and John Alar (2 catches for 26 yards). Defensive leaders were: Lorenzo Carter with 8.5 tackles and 11 assists; James Schultz with 7 tackles and 6 assists; Everett Pollard with 5 tackles and 2 assists; and Ryan Jones with 4.5 tackles and 5 assists.
