The WolfPack varsity softball team swept 2 games from Eagles Landing Christian Academy (ECLA) in dramatic fashion recently, securing the 3rd seed out of region 9A. On a memorable Senior Night, the girls earned their first state tournament bid in school history.
In a continuation of the game that started on September 20th and was called for darkness tied at 3 runs apiece after 7 innings, Whitefield scored 7 runs in the international tie-breaker inning and held on for a 10 - 5 victory. ELCA surprised the WolfPack with a trick play to open the top half of the 8th inning picking off the free runner at 2nd base. Janie Hampel followed with a base hit to left field and after 5 consecutive walks and a strikeout, Alexis Allen singled to drive in 2 runs and Shelby Davidson tripled to deep centerfield driving in the last run of the inning.
