Whitefield Academy dedicated the Bradford Memorial Wing in Morris Hall over Thanksgiving weekend with 40 members of the Bradford extended family in attendance. The wing houses the library and art classroom and is named in memory of the late Shelly Bradford, aunt of Whitefield Middle School student Caroline Bradford (6th).
“Shelly was a nanny and loved children. It is a fitting tribute to her that our family is able to dedicate this wing in her memory,” said Whitefield parent Reggie Bradford, brother of Shelly.
Headmaster John Lindsell shared with the family members, “This wing of Morris Hall was not scheduled to be completed for a few years. This part of the building was in the second phase of our campaign, but thanks to the generosity of the Bradford family, we were able to complete it during phase one. We now have a beautiful art classroom and library as part of our new Upper School. Your family has been a direct answer to our prayers.”
After a ribbon-cutting ceremony, family members shared their personal memories of Shelly over lunch in the Barnett Gathering Room. Present at the dedication were Shelly’s parents, her seven brothers and sisters, and her numerous nieces and nephews. Reggie Bradford shared why his family decided to make this gift to the school.
“Our gift was an act of obedience and a stretch of faith, but in the end, God blessed our obedience far more than I could have ever imagined,” said Bradford. “Whitefield means so much to our family and has played such an important role in our lives. We feel honored to be able to leave a lasting remembrance of my sister at Whitefield Academy through the Bradford Memorial Wing.”
