On Tuesday, April 2, 32 seniors were honored at the Senior Scholars Luncheon for earning magna cum laude and summa cum laude distinctions. Donovan Pearce was also named the class of 2019 valedictorian and Grayce Guthrie was named the class salutatorian.
To earn the magna cum laude distinction, students must earn a 3.70-4.0 cumulative grade point average during their four years of Upper School; take a minimum of six honors and/or AP courses; take four years of a foreign language (or three years of a foreign language if seven honors and/or AP courses have been taken); and have no failing grades throughout their Upper School career.
Seniors earning magna cum laude distinction are: Ansleigh Brown, Nyah Britt, Mikala Chambers, Anna Cykoski, Kayla Dixon, Patrick Hepner, Robert Matherne, Luke McLemore, Nathan Messner, Matthew Oluyide, West Peterson, Paxton Richards, Ellie Richburg, Matthew Sumlin, Madison Sutherland, Olivia Veenendaal-Casper, William Weston, and Lala Zewdu.
The summa cum laude distinction is awarded to students who have achieved a 3.95 or greater cumulative grade point average during their Upper School career; taken a minimum of four AP courses; taken four years of a foreign language (or three years of a foreign language if five AP courses have been taken); and have had no failing grades.
Seniors who have earned summa cum laude distinction are: Mary Charles Bounds, Caleb Corliss, Sarah Davis, Emilie Grand'Pierre, Grace Guthrie, Cha Cha Hamilton, Zachary Justice, Anna Grace Kwon, Hannah Morris, Donovan Pearce, Emmy Pridgeon, Adria Stevens, Sherina Thomas, and Shelby Wingate.
