Thirty-one Whitefield students were inducted into the National Honor Society (NHS) during a special induction ceremony held in the Louise Owens Theater on April 3. Established in 1921, the NHS recognizes outstanding high school students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.

The program included a special welcome message from Christopher McDonald, NHS sponsor and science department chair, followed by NHS inductees sharing a scripture reading, prayer, and criteria for membership. McDonald then read each new inductee's name one-by-one. As the students' names were called, each lit a candle which represented an area of scholarship, service, leadership, or character. The students then shared how they wanted to grow in that particular area. As the inductees left the stage, they received their NHS pin and certificate from Upper School Principal Nathan Stevens.

Congratulations to the 2019 NHS inductees: Anna Ayalew, Brooke Bergeron, Haley Burgess, Kaylee Burnett, Kaleb Carmack, Anna Cochran, Lilly David, Abigail Farrar, Lindsey Fry, Siri Gulledge, Sydney Hales, Bryan Holsinger, Isabelle Jordan, Alexis Kantor, Jack Krahel, Connor Ladd, Kara Martin, Joel McKinney, Annalee Neese, Kennedy Papantonis, Joshua Patrick, Charles Perdue, Hannah Stevens, Sophia Trovato, Dimitri Tsompanas, Ryan Washington, Chase Watson, Karalese Wehner, Abigail Wickham, Lucas Wilson, and Spencer Wingate.
